Class Levels
Class placement is based on both age and ability. Each student will be place in a level appropriate to meet the needs of the dancer so that he or she will develop as a dancer while having fun during class. Dancers will remain in a level for at least one season, with the potential to move to the next level at the instructors discretion.
Creative Movement (Ages 3-4)
Creative Movement is for dancers ages 3-4 years old. Dancers in this class learn 1st and 2nd position; as well as how to skip and chasse. This class is an introductory class with emphasis on coordination, musical introduction, and having fun!
Pre-Ballet (Ages 4-5)
Pre-Ballet is for dancers ages 4-5 years old. Dancers in this class learn how to skip backwards; how to chasse with partners; and how to do a sauté arabesque. This class is an introductory class with an emphasis on coordination, musical introduction and having fun.
Ballet I (Ages 6-8)
Ballet I is for dancers ages 6-8 years old. Dancers in this class begin work at the barre, learn pirouettes, pas de chat, and echappe. This class is a beginning class with an emphasis on coordination and movement across the floor.
Ballet II (Ages 7-12)
Ballet II is for dancers 7-12 years old. Dancers in this class will be introduced to the eight body positions in classical ballet, and continue working on pirouettes, petite allegro and grande allegro. Dancers will work on musicality, alignment, and developing strength through barre and center work.
Ballet III (Ages 12-13)
Ballet III is for dancers 12-13. Dancers in this class will continue working on the eight body positions in classical ballet as well as center work. Dancers will work on musicality, alignment, and developing strength through barre and center work.
